Blue Jays News · Athlete Summer Training Guidelines


The Athletic Department is excited to announce that as of today, June 8th, coaches may begin holding voluntary skill based workouts. The Athletic Department will be following the OHSAA and Ohio Department of Health’s, three phase summer training guidelines. Each of the three phases will have a different set of guidelines that our all of our coaches will follow, allowing us to open up gradually, while maintaining a healthy, safe, and clean environment. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and other preventative measures will be the ‘new normal’ for all aspects of sports. The Jackson-Milton Athletic Department’s goal is to allow students to participate in athletics in a situations where it can be done safely. Below is a list of requirements that all of our athletes must follow until further notice:

 

ATHLETES – MANDATORY

  • Stay home if you are sick or do not feel well.
  • Student- athletes must do a self-check of their symptoms before going to the training session or practice. Anyone experiencing symptoms must stay home.
  • Student- athletes must bring their own mask to cover their faces when being checked in by a coach and not participating in any aerobic activity.
  • Student-athletes should report to workouts in proper gear and immediately return home to shower at the end of the workout. Locker rooms will not be available. 
  • Student-athletes must wear their own appropriate workout clothing, and individual clothing/towels should be washed and cleaned after every workout.
  • Student-athletes are strongly recommended to travel to the venue alone or with a member(s) of their immediate household, if possible.
  • Social distancing must be followed. Coaches should designate space for each player to maintain six foot spacing.
  • Arrive no more than 10 minutes early or wait in your car.
  • Upon arrival, athletes will be screened for signs/symptoms of COVID-19 prior to a workout, this includes a temperature check.
  • Wash hands or sanitizer prior to beginning activity.
  • Athletes MUST bring their own water bottle and are not permitted to share their water bottle at any time with another athlete or coach.
  • If an athlete doesn’t bring a water bottle then they are not permitted to participate as water fountains will not be available for use.
  • Do not touch other players’ equipment.
  • No-touch rule is in effect. All individuals must avoid physical contact with others including high fives, huddles, or other close contact occurring before, during, and after skills sessions unless the contact is for the purpose of safety. 
  • No spitting at any time before, during, or after events.
  • No congregating should occur before or after the training or practice session.
  • Practice good personal hygiene including washing hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, using hand sanitizer, refraining from touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, coughing and sneezing into an elbow, etc.
  • No spectators are permitted.
  • Teams and individuals must adjust rules to adhere to the requirements herein.
  • Any athlete refusing to participate or follow the guidelines will be sent home immediately.
