On Friday night the 8th of February, wind chills are expected to be near ten degrees and the wind will be whipping. Come on out to the Don Patton Gym to enjoy a great night of family fun in the annual battle between Western Reserve High School and Jackson-Milton which is celebrating its 53rd year of playing the trophy game this year. The trophy which was founded many years ago as a tribute to Mr. Harold M. Jones Jr. who was a member of the Kiwanis Club and was the President at the time of his passing. This trophy is a friendly competition between two rivals and a great community tradition between the two schools. Western Reserve currently holds the trophy and has won it 38 times compared to Jackson-Milton’s 14. Details of the game and other events going on during and before the game are as listed.
JV Game will start at 5:30 PM with Senior night taking place between the JV and Varsity game. The Varsity game will start right around 7:00 PM.
During the JV game our state and nationally recognized cheerleaders will be performing their routine as they prepare for a regional competition this weekend. The 6th grade boys teams from Western Reserve and Jackson-Milton will play each other at halftime of the varsity game in a mini-trophy game.
MVAC Coaches Vs. Cancer Night
All teams in our league are participating in Coaches Vs. Cancer games on this evening. There will be a donation jar as you enter with all monies raised going to the American Cancer Society. All coaches will be wearing sneakers to coach in during the game and fans are welcome to participate as well. We will pull all of the money together to make one big donation check from the all of the league schools to help beat cancer.
Baseball Team Fundraiser
The High School Baseball team will be be conducting a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction in the hall way leading up to the gym entrance. The team will be traveling to a weekend baseball scrimmage and overnight stay in March to kick off their season.
